Homework Help & Enrichment + College & Career Readiness + STEM + The Arts

  • Homework Help & Enrichment

    Power Hour: Making Minute Count helps Boys & Girls Club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework support, tutoring and technology-engaged activities. The program gives Club members assistance, resources and guidance in a safe pace and under the supervision of qualified tutors. 

  • College & Career Readiness

    gEARed Up for the Future: A workforce development program created in partnership with the Disneyland Resort to provide teen members with the skills and support they need to graduate high school with a postsecondary plan of college, trade school, joining the workforce, or military service. It's an excellent opportunity to network and learn from successful professionals about college and career preparation. 


    Money Matters: A program geared toward financial health through behavior change and the building of decision-making skills and confidence. As a key program supporting Academic Success, Money Matters helps teens get started now by making good decisions for their financial futures. The program moves from teens’ current lives to preparing for financial life after high school and then young adulthood.

  • STEM

    MLB STEM: Launched in partnership with the nonprofit Learn Fresh, MLB Players STEM League is a baseball-inspired program for middle-school age youth. This combination board game and curriculum brings to life the energy of the sport while cultivating students’ math and social-emotional skill. The MLB STEM program is designed to enrich math and cooperation skills as they draft a team of MLB players, develop a batting order.  


    NBA Math Hoops: A comprehensive community program, featuring a basketball board game, mobile app, and curriculum, that allows students to learn fundamental math skills through the game of basketball. All program content is developed in alignment Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills, and has been shown to improve students’ foundational math and social-emotional skills. The NBA Math Hoops program experienced is managed by Learn Fresh, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, in association with NBA Cares.


    ScienTeen: Members engage in STEM experiments to explore, understand and have fun. Each experiment increases STEM literacy and creates fun hand-on opportunities to learn about different science objectives. 

  • The ARTS

    Art for the People: BGCGAC created Art club that highlights various artists that align with the Heritage month cycle calendar. Art for the People creates a space for creative expression through cultural appreciation of various artists and their artistic styles which creates a safe space for all our members. 


    Lyrcism 101: Members participate in weekly Choir rehearsal. At each rehearsal they'll warm up their instrument (voice) and then proceed to work on a variety of music pieces. Members also have the opportunity to participate in performances across community events.


    Media Making: Promotes Club member's love of drama, while increasing their appreciation of this art form, building self-confidence, inspiring creativity and increasing academic achievement.


    National Photography: A program designed to help youth go beyond taking snapshots and develop the necessary skills to take photographs that can really impct the viewer. Photography opens a door to creative self-expression that no other art form allows. Others may discover a career path.

Healthy Lifestyles

Sports, Fitness & Recreation + Health & Nutrition + Mental Health

  • Sports, Fitness & Recreation

    RBI is a Major League Baseball initiative to increase urban youth participation in baseball and softball by re-introducing America’s pastime to underserved communities. RBI provides training to Clubs seeking to start or expand boys’ baseball and girls’ fast-pitch softball leagues for teens. RBI teams representing Club leagues are eligible to participate in sports clinics, eight regional tournaments and a 

  • Health & Nutrition

    Teen Cuisine Cooking Club: Youth learn the basics of cooking through hands-on, supervised instruction.  The program focuses on making healthy choices while preparing food as well as learning how to make food from various cultures.

  • Mental Health

    Teen Talks is a small group, discussion-based program to provide Mental Health Support to teen members through open-forum conversations on self-care, stress management, healthy relationships, healthy relationships, and other topics as chosen by the teens.

Social-Emotional Learning + Service Learning/Leadership

  • Social-Emotional Learning

    Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior. Each participant receives a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Each of the program’s 14 sessions use interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. It also includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community.


    SMART GIRLS in Action: The interactive, engaging, small-group sessions engender camaraderie, while also encouraging each girl to explore and express her individuality through discussions, hands-on games and activities, role-play, take-home challenges and activities, and collaborative decision-making and problem solving.

  • Service Learning / Leadership

    Keystone Leadership Club is BGCA’s premier teen leadership program. Founded in 1964, Keystoning meets teens’ vitally important needs for positive group experiences. With the guidance of Club staff, teens are given opportunities to make leadership decisions, serve others and engage in experiences that help to shape their knowledge of academic, career, community service and teen outreach initiatives and projects.


    Torch Leadership Club is a club within the club that focus on youth leadership and service.  Each Torch Club has between 6-15 members of youth ages 10-13 who participate in service experiences and projects developed and implemented by Torch Club members themselves.  The overarching purpose of Torch Club is to foster in youth the ability, confidence and motivation they need in order to lead meaningful change in themselves, with others, and in their communities.  Through the youth-led, small-group club structure, members gain first-hand experience in leadership and service as they work together toward a shared goal.


    Youth of the Year: Since 1947, Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier leadership program, distinguishing and celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members who embody the values of leadership, service, academic excellence, and healthy lifestyles. Each year, thousands of Club teens   participate in local, state and regional Youth of the Year events. Six teens advance to the National Youth of the Year, where one outstanding young person is named National Youth of the Year.  This national teen spokesperson is a role model, leader and advocate for the millions of youth served by Clubs each year and all of America’s young people.  The Youth of the Year leadership suite includes youth of the month programs for all ages, the junior youth of the year for members ages 10-13 years and the youth of the year program for youth ages 14-18.
