ADMIN TEAM.

John
Machiaverna

Executive Director
Ext. 101
Having been a founding board member and now the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim. I have seen the Clubs go through many phases, the last of which is transforming our Club into a Family Resource center. We now run food distributions, mobile health clinics, legal immigration services, counseling for our members and their parents, and other services being provided in an area which is one of Anaheim’s most under-served neighborhoods.

Working at the Clubs is such a rewarding experience. Watching the positive progression of our members,
seeing a young child blossom and make giant strides in education and fitness, and watching them turn into fine young men and women. I also love working with other organizations to help not only our members, but our members families. We have created great new relationships while strengthening our existing ones. Together we are making enormous improvements in the lives of our members and their families. We have changed the culture in a once heavily gang influenced park and we now see the park being used for the intention it was designed: Families coming together to enjoy one of Anaheim’s neighborhood parks without fearing gang involvement.

I get inspired when I see people of all races, religions and different up bringing’s coming together and interacting with no regards to their beliefs or religious convictions.

I would have to say my heroes are my family. My mom and dad who brought me up to keep high standards and be accountable for my actions. My kids for making me work hard and ensure they had opportunity through education to become successful in their endeavors. Last but not least I am inspired by my wife who keeps me focused on doing the right thing while keeping those high standards and being accountable.

Mayra
Martin

Assistant Executive Director
Ext. 102
What I like most about working for this organization is seeing the impact we are making, not only in our youth, but in the community as well. I was born, and have lived in Anaheim my whole life. Anaheim is a great city with immense potential and I believe we play a crucial role in the development of this city and the youth that reside in it. We strongly believe that in order to make a difference in our member’s lives, we must begin with the parents. Parental investment has a strong effect on the emotional development and social competencies in children. My inspiration comes from the 300+ smiles I see daily from the children and adults that participate in our programs. My heroes are my parents. Their hard work and perseverance has had the greatest influence in who I am today.

What I like most of working at the Club is being able to help impact the lives of our youth and making a difference in our community. I’m inspired by seeing the smiles on our members, the growth of our staff, and the vision of our organization. My hero is my mom. She has been in the Boys & Girls Club movement for over 30 years and has always been an inspiration to me. Her passion, energy, and dedication is something that I have always admired and striven to achieve in my 23+ years of service. She is definitely a hero of mine and has had an impact on countless young lives over the years and continues to do so.

Sue
Ethridge

Administrator of Behavioral Education
Transportation Manager
Ext. 107
Most of my time here at the Club is spent organizing our Transportation Program. I must be sure that the members we transport get to their destinations safely. My favorite part of my job is working with all our amazing members on an individual basis and helping them to take responsibility for their behavior and life success. I enjoy helping their families also. I look forward to being here every day. It keeps me young at heart and inspired to see children learn to believe in themselves and go for their dreams. My two heroes would have to be Meryle Streep and Michelle Obama. I love that they are strong women with tremendous values and work every day to make the world a better place to live.

Ulises
Pacheco

Group Leader
What I like most about the club is being able to say that I'm at work when in reality it does not feel like I'm doing any actual work. I know it sounds weird but, really, all I do is play and build friendships with the youth. People always say that children are the future and so I have carried this phrase with me for quite some time, especially now that I have begun to work in a field that solely deals with kids. I'd like to think that most of the children at this club will do something meaningful with their lives or change the lives of others (because they were part of this club). My coworkers also inspire me, all of them carry an important role and know how to handle each role smoothly. I have never worked with a team so responsible and well communicated. My biggest heroes are my parents because they have made countless sacrifices for my sisters and I to have a life without almost any hardships. Another hero of mine is Oskar Schindler.

Monserrat
Pala Tlaseca

Group Leader
I’m Monserrat and I’m a group leader here at the Club. What I love most about working at the club is working with the kids and staff. What inspires me is learning and people. Learning is a motivator that enables me to understand people, myself, and my surroundings. My hero is my mom because she has sacrificed a lot for me and I look up to her.

Angelica
Guerra

Group Leader
Hi, I am Angelica and I am a group leader here at the Boys and Girls Club. What I like most about working at the Club is being able to teach the kids new skills, helping them nourish those skills so that they are able to use them in future, and as well as learn from the kids. My inspiration comes from my sister. My hero is my mother.

JMAC TEEN CENTER.

Nichole
Barboza

Teen Clubhouse Manager
My name is Nichole and I am the Teen Clubhouse Manager and one of the School Bus Drivers. My favorite thing about THE CLUB? That's easy, the teens! I love getting to know them and be there for them. My inspiration are the teens! I strive to be a positive role model for them. To set an example, that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. And, two heroes of mine are Lucille Ball and my mother.

Anabel
Garcia

Assistant Teen Clubhouse Manager
Hello, I’m Anabel and I’m the Assistant Clubhouse Manager at our Teen Center. What I like about working at the Club is being able to help others and seeing them smile. THOMAS KIEVIET UNIT.

Jose
Sosa

Clubhouse Manager
I’m Jose and I’m the Clubhouse Manager at our Thomas Kieviet Unit. What I like about working with the kids is the smile they put on my face when they have fun and do silly things. What inspires me are my parents and all the hard work they have done to help me succeed with my goals. My heroes are Dr. Dre and Eminem because they showed me that even though no one believed in them and turned their backs to them they were still able to succeed in life and become two of the greatest artist.

Ashley
Stone

Assistant Clubhouse Manager
I'm the assistant manager at out West Anaheim site and I implement programming that primarily focuses on The Arts. I also spend a lot of my time at the club doing community outreach and member recruitment. What I like most about working at the club is the impact we have on our members, their families, and the community as a whole. I love having the opportunity to influence a positive change in the minds of our members. I love exposing them to new ideas and pushing them to new limits. I love working alongside families to improve our members experiences past the blue doors. The best part, in the end, is knowing we are shifting the culture of our community one day at a time. What inspires me is hearing positive stories from the community about the organization. A hero of mine would be my childhood counselor. They encouraged me to further my education and to reach my own fullest potential. That is all we can really hope to do in return.

Ivan
Lopez

Group Leader
My name is Ivan and I am a youth leader at the Club. What I love the most about this job is the fact that my job is literally playing and having fun with the kids. It may come with its challenges but seeing the smiles on the kids' faces makes it all worth it. My faith in God is my inspiration. My father is my greatest role model because he has sacrificed so much for our family and yet he still reminds us every day how much he loves us.
