Honoring John's Legacy
Our Masquerade Gala is dedicated to the one and only, John Machiaverna. We will be honoring John's legacy of making life a better place for those in need. For those that were fortunate enough to know John, you know that he poured his heart and soul into the mission of our Boys & Girls Clubs. He had a bold vision for the future of our organization and the future of the kids in our communities. The Club team is working to fulfill John's vision and ensure that all children and families have the programs they need to succeed in school and in life. Please join us to hear more about the ways John will continue to make an impact for years to come.
John stepped in as CEO in 2015, after many years on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim Board of Directors. John owned and operated J.MAC Jewelers for many years. He brought that business experience to the nonprofit world. He later became the CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress after the Anaheim Clubs and the Cypress Clubs became one organization. Since then, John worked diligently to broaden our reach and serve more youth.
When asked, "What is your favorite part about the job?" John responded; "Working at the Clubs is such a rewarding experience. Watching the positive progression of our members, seeing a young child blossom and make giant strides in education and fitness, and watching them turn into fine young men and women. I also love working with other organizations to help not only our members, but our members families. We have created great new relationships while strengthening our existing ones. Together we are making enormous improvements in the lives of our members and their families. We have changed the culture in a once heavily gang influenced park and we now see the park being used for the intention it was designed: Families coming together to enjoy one of Anaheim’s neighborhood parks without fearing gang involvement."
